Marlin lives for cherry blossom season. His morning ritual begins every February 1st: he’ll brew his favorite earl grey tea and sit on the porch to watch his neighbor’s tree. that first bloom, when he catches it, fills his eyes with magic. nature has taught him the art of patience; he’s learned not to rush it.

On his birthday he will don his chartreuse cardigan—and an umbrella because March weather is unpredictable—and escort his daughter to Golden Gate Park. Marlin’s developed knee problems in his golden years, but you’d never know it on cherry blossom day. He just floats right through that luminous pink snow.
